What to pack for the Sahara desert

Clothes

Light, long clothes protect you from the sun during the day. Add a warm layer for the evening: even in spring and autumn the nights can be cool, and in winter they are cold.

Protection from sun and sand

Sunglasses, sun cream and a hat or a scarf. A light scarf is perfect to protect your face from the wind and the sand – we can also show you how to tie a Berber turban.

Shoes

Sandals or comfortable closed shoes. Many people walk barefoot on the soft sand of the dunes.

Small bag for the night

If you arrive by camel, keep a small backpack with what you need for one night and leave the big luggage in the car or at the camp.

Useful extras

A torch or headlamp, a power bank for photos, your medicines and some cash in Moroccan dirhams for small purchases and tips.

Our tipKeep your camera or phone in a closed pocket or bag – fine sand gets everywhere.
